#MyMzansiRoadTrip - Through the eyes of the youth Part 2

edit article

In partnership with South African Tourism and the Baz Bus, STA Travel recently unlocked some incredible adventures for students around South Africa and the second leg of the #MyMzansiRoadTrip kicked off in Durban with some lucky UKZN students. It was beyond EPIC for everyone involved and everyone who was told to pack their bags on the spot and join the festivities was nothing short of impressed, particularly with list of accommodation that they got to enjoy as part of this adventure!

First up it was a 3-hour drive from Durban to the ever-exotic Coffee Bay where the travelers got to discover Coffee Shack Backpackers, right on the beach-overlooking the river mouth. The great thing about this venue is that it allows one to really explore nature and the highlight here is the hike to the ‘Hole in the Wall’.

This popular 3 –hour walk to one of the region’s most beautiful natural features takes you through remote rural villages, passing the baby ‘Hole in the Wall’ before reaching the Mpako River that passes through the Hole in the wall. Relaxing under the milk woods or going for a swim while the guide prepares a tasty lunch of sandwiches toasted on the open fire was definitely unforgettable to the travelers. Another fun part of this experience is that if the ocean permits – and it certainly did, one can try a daring jump into the hole; something which requires a bathing suit and a touch of bravery for anyone wanting to try it.

The following morning was an early rise for the students as they hopped into the Baz Bus and drove from Coffee Bay to another gem of the wild coast: Cintsa, where they enjoyed staying at Buccaneers backpackers, a spacious property placed in a lush indigenous landscape overlooking the beach and lagoon. The incredible thing about this venue is the fact that guests are treated to some awesome beach activities from surfing to canoeing. After getting to wriggle their toes in the sand and take in the sun the travelers headed back to Buccaneers backpackers where they were able to admire an amazing sunset on the lagoon, have dinner and take time to relax and chat with fellow travelers.
